North Melbourne v Sydney:
Etihad Stadium is the venue for Saturday night’s AFL Round 11 match between North Melbourne and Sydney.
The Kangaroos are coming off a hard fought win against the West Coast Eagles in difficult conditions last round. That win has moved North Melbourne into 12th position on the AFL ladder with 5 wins and 5 losses.
The Swans are in great form and they are looking for their 6th consecutive win this round against the Kangaroos. They easily accounted for the Gold Coast last round by over 50 points without really giving it their best effort. They have moved into 2nd spot on the AFL ladder and are now only 1 match behind Fremantle.
We do not expect many changes for both sides with the Swans likely to have an unchanged team this week.
What The Bookies Think
The bookies have opened the markets and installed Sydney as the $1.45 favorite with North Melbourne paying $2.75
The line is currently sitting at a -14.5 points Sydney and +14.5 North Melbourne.
Sydney to lead at the end of all four quarters $2.80 (Syd/Syd/Syd/Syd)
North Melbourne to lead at the end of all four quarters $5.00 (Nth/Nth/Nth/Nth)
The total match line is currently sitting at 179.5 points.
What We Think
The Swans are just cruising this year and they appear to have much more left in the tank. They smashed the Kangaroos by 71 points in the Preliminary Final last season. They have also won 8 out of their last 10 matches against North Melbourne.
The Kangaroos had a good solid win last round against the Eagles in windy, wet conditions. That was a tough physical match and they might be a little under-done this round. They are still struggling for consistency this season and suffered heavy losses to Collingwood and Fremantle in the previous rounds.
The Swans do not have many injury concerns this season and Buddy Franklin looks in great form. Daniel Hannebery is flying and will probably have another 40 possessions this round.
We just cannot go past the Sydney Swans in this match. We think a few of the Kangaroos will be a little sore this round and the Swans look too good in all areas.
We would have thought the line would be around the -22.5 points mark for the Swans so the -14.5 points available looks rather enticing.
Sydney to win: $1.45
Sydney at the line: -14.5 points at $1.91
Match total over 179.5 points
